The Downstream Operations Systems Manager is responsible for the strategic ownership, optimization, and continuous improvement of the digital systems that enable field execution across Nutrien Ag Solutions’ retail and custom application operations. This role serves as the enterprise product owner for Equipment Manufacturer Operating Systems (EMOS), including John Deere Operations Center, AGCO platforms, and Case IH systems.

 

The role sits within the Supply Chain organization and partners closely with Field Operations, Agronomy, Digital, IT, and Innovation Farms to ensure these systems are fully leveraged to improve operational efficiency, data accuracy, asset utilization, and scalability. This position plays a critical role in connecting field execution to enterprise systems, enabling data-driven decision-making and consistent execution at scale.

What You'll Do

 

Downstream Operations Systems Ownership

 

  • Own the product vision, roadmap, and backlog for OEM field operations systems, this includes but not limited to:
    • Application Operations Systems
    • Custom Application SOP/Process
    • Work Order & Job Management
    • Machine Agronomic Data Collection and utilization (Deere)
    • Digital Grower Partnership strategy 
    • Agronomic recommendation delivery and execution
    • Telematics & Asset Data (Samsara)
    • Routing, Dispatching, and Proof of Delivery systems
    • Inventory & Application Data Integration
    • Costing, Closeout, and Reconciliation workflow as it relates to product application.         
  • Define and maintain standards, governance, and best practices for system usage across retail and custom application operations
  • Prioritize enhancements based on business value, operational impact, and field feedback
  • Ensure systems support scalable growth, operational consistency, and data integrity
  • Retail & Custom Application Enablement:
    •  Optimize system workflows supporting custom application (spraying), field services, and retail operations
    •  Improve work order creation, execution, validation, and closeout processes
    •  Partner with regional and field leaders to drive adoption and consistent execution
    •  Identify opportunities to reduce manual processes, rework, and operational friction

  • Data Integration & Digital Collaboration:
    • Partner with Agronomy and Digital teams to enable seamless data transfer between OEM systems and internal platforms
    • Support integrations related to prescriptions, application records, equipment telemetry, and inventory movement
    • Ensure data accuracy, traceability, and alignment between field execution and enterprise systems
    • Collaborate with IT on system enhancements, releases, and issue resolution
  • Cross-Functional & OEM Engagement:
    • Serve as the primary liaison with OEM partners including John Deere, AGCO, and Case IH
    • Coordinate with external vendors and internal stakeholders on roadmap alignment and technical capabilities
  • Align with company stakeholders around shared priorities, including but not limited to:
    • Fleet - Fleet Management Tools
    • Supply Chain - Digital Supply Chain and Product Forecasting & Movement
    • Agronomy - Precision Agriculture 
    • Proprietary Products - Data Collection and product validation
    • Digital - Seamless process and data integration 
    •  IT – System Integrations and Processes
    •  Support change management, training, and communication efforts to drive adoption
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement
    • Partner with Innovation Farms to pilot new OEM features, technologies, and process improvements
    • Evaluate pilot performance and translate learnings into scalable enterprise solutions
    • Incorporate field insights and innovation results into roadmap prioritization
    • Stay current on emerging precision agriculture and field operations technologies

  • Digital Supply Chain Enablement
    • Connect field execution systems to Digital Supply Chain platforms including routing, tank monitoring, telematics, proof of delivery, ERP, and Digital Hub
    • Enable enterprise visibility into field execution, inventory movement, equipment utilization, and order fulfillment status
    • Ensure field execution data serves as a supply chain signal for planning, scheduling, replenishment, fleet allocation, and cost management
    • Support financial reconciliation by improving accuracy of application, inventory consumption, and work order closeout
    • Drive standardization and scalability of field execution processes to support multi-branch, multi-region growth
  • SUCCESS METRICS
    • Adoption and consistent usage of OEM field operations systems across retail and custom application teams
    • Reduction in manual processes, duplicate data entry, and operational errors
    • Improved work order accuracy, execution cycle time, and field visibility
    • Successful delivery of integrations, pilots, and enterprise rollouts
    • Positive stakeholder feedback from field, agronomy, and supply chain partners

What You'll Bring:

 

Required

 

• 8+ years of experience in operations, supply chain, digital systems, or product ownership

• Strong understanding of retail agronomy operations and custom application workflows

• Experience working with OEM field systems such as John Deere Operations Center, AGCO, or Case IH platforms

• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence without direct authority

• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills

 

Preferred

 

• Experience in agricultural services, fleet-based operations, or precision agriculture

• Familiarity with ERP systems, work order management platforms, telematics, and data integration tools

• Experience leading pilots, innovation programs, or enterprise system rollouts

Compensation & Benefits: 

 

The salary range for this role, in Deerfield, IL, is between $121,500 - $190,850 and in Loveland, CO, is between $127,500 - $200,310. While we provide this range as general guidance, several factors are taken into consideration when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, candidate skill set, experience and training, licensure and certifications, work location, and other business and organizational needs. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.
