As Payroll Manager for US and Canada at Nutrien, you’ll lead a high-performing team of payroll professionals, driving accuracy and efficiency for 26,000+ employees across North America. This pivotal leadership role not only ensures timely, compliant payroll, but also champions process innovation, operational excellence, and team development.

 

What you will do:

  • Direct and inspire a diverse payroll team, cultivating collaboration, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Strategically align payroll operations with company-wide objectives and rapidly evolving business needs.
  • Develop, optimize, and future-proof payroll processes to guarantee seamless delivery of pay, benefits, and compliance initiatives.
  • Maintain strict adherence to regulatory updates, company policies, and best practices across US and Canadian payroll landscapes.
  • Oversee and approve payroll system operations, ensure accurate general ledger reconciliations, and steward confidential payroll records with precision.
  • Generate comprehensive reports that inform business decisions and support financial transparency.
  • Leads year-end processes including final adjustments, verification of tax reports (T4s, T4A, Rel-1, W2s, TD4), and ensures statutory compliance.
  • Leads year-end payroll processes, including statutory filings (T4s, T4A, Rel-1, W2s, TD4) and compliance verification.
  • Coach, mentor, and empower team members for career growth and high-impact performance.
  • Collaborate across HR, Finance, and business units to define operational priorities and deliver on strategic goals.
  • Champion global payroll alignment, driving efficiency and consistency through service level agreements (SLAs).

 

What you will bring:

  • 10+ years payroll experience with current Payroll certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of Canadian and US employment and wage/hour laws.
  • Skilled with major ERP payroll systems and reporting tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (advanced Excel).
  • Strong leadership, process development, standardization, and project/time management skills.
  • Dynamic leadership in cross-functional team building and collaboration.
  • Expertise in designing and standardizing processes for operational excellence.
  • Proven track record of leading in fast-paced, global shared services environments with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Skilled in navigating complex challenges and delivering forward-thinking solutions for both global and regional initiatives.
  • Advanced project and time management capabilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills paired with a high degree of professional integrity.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Self-driven, with a strong ability to work autonomously and inspire teams.

 

Compensation & Benefits: 

The salary range for this role, in Loveland, CO, is between $87,000 - $149,100. While we provide this range as general guidance, several factors are taken into consideration when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, candidate skill set, experience and training, licensure and certifications, work location, and other business and organizational needs. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

 

We provide an attractive benefits package that includes comprehensive medical, dental, vision coverage, and life insurance and well as disability coverage for positions working more than 30 hours per week. In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our program(s) where discretionary pay out of awards is reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.  Details will be discussed through the application process.
