Reporting to the Manager, Proprietary Products Accounting, you will be responsible for the accounting and reporting for the Dyna-Gro Seed business and provide support to ongoing business and IT projects as Nutrien continues to evolve its systems and processes. This position will also assist the proprietary products accounting team with inventory controls, month end closing duties, reconciliations, monitoring sales/margin activity, and interacting with Dyna-Gro business leaders to ensure accuracy of financial reporting.

  

What you will do:
 

  • Support day-to-day accounting and month end close processes, journal entry creation, and account reconciliations for Dyna-Gro Seed.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to complete time-sensitive, complex inventory, supplier prepay, and payables accounting tasks that are critical to the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Monitor purchase transactions through the system and coordinate with supply chain and accounts payable groups to resolve discrepancies timely.
  • Prepare, analyze, and distribute month end inventory reports.
  • Review costing and process order variances as well as manufacturing cost absorption for reasonableness; working closely with Plant Managers and Proprietary Business Operations Personnel to resolve any issues and ensure accurate reporting of margins and inventory transactions.
  • Work with business to review and reconcile grower contracts and make inventory cost adjustments when necessary.
  • Gain proficiency in existing accounting processes and develop process changes to increase efficiency.
  • Assist Manager, Proprietary Products Accounting in researching inventory transactions resulting in questionable margins or inventory levels.
  • Preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations in Blackline reconciliation tool.
  • Special projects, and other duties as assigned by Manager, Proprietary Products Accounting or other Accounting Management.
  • May require occasional travel to seed production facilities for inventory counts.

 

What you will bring:
 

  • BS/BA Degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution.
  • Advanced degree or certification a plus.
  • 5+ years of accounting related experience.
  • General Knowledge of GAAP/IFRS standards.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or distribution environment.
  • Willingness to travel if required.
  • SAP S4/HANA experience a plus.
  • Blackline experience a plus.
  • Inventory costing experience a plus.
  • Ability to work with others and communicate with a variety of business departments within the company.
  • Use technical accounting experience and education to advise on proper solutions to accounting issues or changes in future processes.
  • Ability to comprehend complex accounting functions quickly and efficiently.
  • Ability to prioritize and work with competing deadlines.
  • Strong computer (MS Office – Excel, ERP System), analytical and organizational skills with a high attention to detail.
  • Ability to understand and analyze issues and apply accounting standards to reflect accurate financial reporting.
  • Strong integrity and business ethics.

 

Compensation & Benefits: 
 

Salary Range $71,900 - $133,400/annually. This range is estimated for Senior Accountant, Retail, Proprietary Accounting in Loveland, Colorado. Actual salary and benefits may differ based upon location.

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our program(s) where discretionary pay out of awards is reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.  Details will be discussed through the application process.
