This position reports directly to the Chief Mine Engineer. This position will act as the Nutrien representative to oversee the work being performed underground by third party Service Providers.
What You'll Do:
Â
- Conduct field inspections of service provider projects to ensure safe work practices are being followed and project objectives are being met
- Review and approve safe work plans and work methodologies for service provider projects
- Investigate safety incidents and lead the development of appropriate corrective actions
- Review and approve Labour, Equipment, and Materials charges for service provider projects
- Deliver service provider orientations
- Lead project coordination meetings
- Coordinate project infrastructure needs (power, conveyors, equipment support) with other Nutrien department resources
- Act as direct supervisor and mentor for underground service provider project field coordinators
- Support Mine Engineering with managing service provider ground control and rehab scopes of work. This will include developing scope of work packages, oversee creation of project drawings, and developing budget estimates
- Review service provider project schedules. Share schedules and updates with Mine Planning teams for integration with overall UG schedule.
- Lead pre-job walk throughs (field inspections) to kick off projects
- Managing project finances for underground service provider projects, including receiving invoices and reporting against budget
- Manage service provider dry facilities
What You'll Bring:
Â
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive underground mining experience with responsibilities in leadership and operations focused roles
- Familiar with mining methods used in Saskatchewan potash operations. Specific experience with mine rehabilitation and ground control projects is required. Experience working within a shaft environment and with industrial construction projects would be an asset
- Commitment to safety, with previous work experience supervising workers in safety sensitive roles
- Capable and willing to work underground.
- Leadership skills, including experience directly leading people or teams.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
