This position is a seasonal position that will work between April 2025 – September 2025. Multiple positions are available with the option to work 5-months (April to September) or 6-months (April to October).
Located at 10 minutes southwest of Carman, Manitoba at Rosebank and reporting to the Research Agronomist, you will be involved with the establishment, maintenance, and harvest of small plot yield trials.
What you will do:
- Seed bed preparation and flagging of sites.
- Seed cleaning, seed treatment, and setup of seeding envelopes.
- Seeding of small plot trials.
- Maintenance of small plot trial sites.
- Operating small plot field equipment such as tractors and tillage tools.
- Driving a truck and trailer to move equipment between sites.
- Taking accurate and precise agronomic notes.
- Assisting with the operation of small plot combines.
- Equipment calibration and maintenance.
- Assisting technicians, agronomists, and plant breeders with other duties as required.
- Some travel will be required.
What you will bring:
- Honesty, punctuality, reliability, and an ability to work outdoors in a wide range of weather conditions.
- High level of attention to detail resulting in consistent outcomes.
- Proven problem solving and critical thinking abilities in team and individual settings.
- A valid Class 5 driver’s license, willingness to obtain Class 3 license (training provided).
- Small plot field trial experience or agricultural or farm experience is an asset but not required.
- Mechanical aptitude with farm machinery is an asset but not required.
