The Operations Lead assists the Production Manager and Operations Specialist in managing workflow ensuring proper alignment of responsibilities, providing feedback to production scheduling, monitoring and supporting the safe operation of the plant process, and aiding in coaching operations employees, emphasizing the safe use of equipment and processes. The Operations Lead has expert knowledge of the production process and is responsible for assisting with planning, coordinating, and controlling seed production activities, raw materials, and staffing needs to ensure adequate and efficient supply of formulated materials to achieve needed production plans. They will work closely with the Production Manager and other operations personnel to ensure efficient movement of products into and out of the treating and packaging departments and proactively communicate issues in a timely manner. They are responsible for ensuring personnel are trained and knowledgeable in the operation of equipment while holding themselves and their team accountable for maintaining high standards with respect to safety, quality, productivity, and on-time delivery. They will be a key point of contact with regards to working through production capacity constraints to improve current operations and plan for future improvements and capacity increases. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to lead the Treating and Packaging Operations on site. 

What You'll Do:

  • Model our core value of safety by leading and enabling a culture in which you and your teammates are actively contributing to a safe work environment.
  • Actively participate in training and development of operations staff.
  • Assist Production Manager and Operations Specialist with day-to-day tasks to ensure production reporting accuracy’s, support as shift relief as needed.
  • Monitor shift production efforts to support maximum efficiency and to ensure achievement of highest operational priorities of Safety, Quality and Production.
  • Provide coaching and positive leadership of shift operators and help to maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Accomplish work results by supporting established priorities, monitoring progress, resolving quality and production issues, and reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Support and guide production personnel to seek ways to eliminate waste and improve efficiency throughout the plant.
  • Lead and maintain safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources.
  • Complete production plan lined out by the Production Manager.
  • Participate in weekly cycle counts on input products used in the production process.
  • Participate as needed in Annual Physical Inventory Counts.
  • Provide manufacturing/process improvement information by working closely with Production Manager and Operations Specialist to ensure robust production capabilities are maintained, waste is eliminated and formulation efficiencies are gained.
  • Read inventory reports and process orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of materials and take follow up action in relation to material shortages by interfacing with planning. 
  • Work with management and plant resources to help develop new production procedures to ensure processes are well defined and robust to support quality production.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve issues on the floor including but not limited to HMI’s, seed processing and division of workload.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as directed by Management.

What You'll Bring:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Three (3) + years’ experience in the agriculture, manufacturing, and plant production industry including supervisor, mentor and/or leader experience required (five (5)+ years’ experience preferred).
  • Clear driving record and ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Six Sigma or Green Belt preferred.
  • Bilingual-Spanish preferred.
