What you may do:

 

  • Partner with Corporate Engineering to ensure safe functional designs, ensuring adherence to Corporate and regulatory standards, providing SHE considerations during design reviews, and driving SHE programs and projects
  • Champion SHE by conducting daily field audits and providing support in improving life critical procedures and processes
  • Be the Site focal point for all technology and technically driven changes engaging or updating the Plant Manager as required
  • Evaluate existing chemical processes and unit operations to improve SHE, operating efficiency, reliability, rate, and product quality
  • Work with Site Operations leadership to prioritize all Site initiatives, focusing on SHE initiatives, and obtain required resources to support
  • Provide technical assurance regarding designs, equipment specifications, piping systems, etc. for work executed by both internal Nutrien resources and Engineering Contractors. 
  • Mentor junior Site Technical folks
  • Collaborate with R&D to optimize current processes and introduce new products
  • Champion Site use of engineering tools and programs such as PI, Aspen, Pipeflo, etc.
  • Provide troubleshooting, problem solving, and incident investigation support when required
  • Other duties as assigned

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Bachelor degree required, preferably in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, etc.); experience may be considered in lieu of education
  • 5+ years of experience, preferably at a manufacturing or processing facility (oil, gas, chemical, or food & beverage)
  • PSM experience especially in regard to Process Safety Information, Management-of-Change, and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews
  • Experience in utilizing process engineering skills to optimize existing processes, develop new processes, provide design changes technical assurance, etc.
