What You'll Do:

- Ensure a safe work environment for all employees by maintaining compliance with all applicable safety requirements, leading by example, promoting a proper safety attitude to all employees, and conducting regular safety meetings.
- Comply with the Nutrien Patience Lake Safety System, and support this program as outlined in the Standards Manual of the Nutrien Patience Lake Safety System, to ensure established Departmental, Divisional, and Corporate goals are met and/or surpassed.
- Contribute to and review production reports, perform tours, observe equipment operation, and confer with operators to improve safety and operational efficiency.
- Recommend measures to maintenance and engineering departments to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of products; lead or assist with the implementation of said recommendations.
- Ensure the General Foreman is advised of all projects and operating processes, as well as prepare periodic reports as required.
- Develop or revise standard operational and working practices, and observe workers to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Supervise and direct the shift operation of the minefield, crystallization pond, dredging, slurry transfer and subsequent milling to produce product that meets quality standards and production targets.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreements by effectively administrating the CBA to ensure consistency, fairness and competitive business practices.
- Investigate complaints originating with direct reports, and resolve first stage grievances.
- Following the evaluation of probationary employees, recommend retaining or terminating prior to completion of the probationary period.
- Maintain training for direct reports in accordance with company policies as well as assisting with updates.
- Hold subordinates accountable in following all company policies, and for the quantity and quality of work performed.
- Provide subordinates with performance feedback and evaluation.Â
- Coach subordinates regarding all relevant company policies and standards.
- Direct manpower utilization (overtime) to maximize efficiency of the mine operation while ensuring a consistent, fair and safe work environment.
- Communicate with other supervisors to coordinate activities of workers across shifts and departments.
- Develop and maintain good relationships across the site, and Nutrien, through effective communication and problem-solving skills.
What You'll Bring:

- The position requires a minimum of Grade 12 with a mechanical aptitude and basic computer skills.
- Five years’ work experience in an industrial workplace setting required.
- Availability to work shiftwork, overtime, and to be on call.
- Understanding and willingness to be compliant and exceed existing safety and environmental legislation.
- Demonstrated written, oral and computer skills for good communication with subordinates, peers, supervisors, and service providers.
- Strong leadership skills, and the ability to utilize these skills to provide guidance, motivation, and development to crew.
- A skilled trade or operating engineer certification would be a definite asset.
- An excellent safety record at past positions, training in life saving procedures an asset.
