In Trinidad & Tobago, we operate one of the world's largest nitrogen complexes with 4 ammonia plants and 1 urea plant on 165 acres of Trinidad's sheltered west coast.  

 

What you will do:

  • Ensure self and team embodies Nutrien’s Culture of Care for safety, health, and environment, engaging in programs and practices from our action plan, The Nutrien Way
  • Interface with stakeholders and project teams for successful project development, execution, and completion
  • Provides disciplined engineering knowledge, plant, and project management experience throughout the project life cycle (pre-project & project delivery process) to:
    • justify the need, problem, or opportunity, define project objectives and ensure agreement on which options to pursue and develop alternative options
    • complete basic engineering and front-end engineering design (FEED), with deliverables that include all process safety information (PSI), authority to source (ATS) and other tender/procurement packages, preliminary execution plans, cost estimates, schedules, etc., as governed by the Stage Gate checklist
    • complete detailed engineering, with deliverables that include execution contract award, detailed execution plans, pre-execution job hazard analyses (JHA), safe work plans & risk assessments, and integrated schedules
    • Lead/facilitate stakeholder engagement, technical review and bid clarification meetings with engineering and installation contractors
  • Ensure pre start-up safety review (PSSR), construction punch lists and post project evaluations are completed to ensure acceptable execution and provide quality assurance of work being done.
  • Execute all project Stage Gate progression activities required as part of the Project Management Process
  • Execute all project Financial Approval request activities (e.g., REFs, AFEs etc.) required as part of the Project Management Process
  • Monitor and update project performance against the plan, update forecasts and implement Change Control as required to address any performance issues
  • Provide support to the Project Team in the design, selection and specification for new mechanical equipment and/or systems
  • Support the application of the site’s Reliability & PSM programs, inclusive of Bad Actors, End Of Life, Root Cause Analysis, Operational Risk Management, Process Hazard Analysis, Management of Change, and TapRoot Investigations
  • Ensure the successful execution of capital projects, ensuring work is occuring safely, within budget, on schedule and achieves the project objectives

 

What you will bring:

  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering from accredited university
  • 6 - 9+ years’ working experience in mechanical design, installation and maintenance of mechanical equipment and machinery (e.g. rotating equipment)
  • Experience with Process Plant design and/or project management and field supervisory execution experience in a chemical plant, or similar industry.
  • Computer literacy with a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Project Management certifications (PMP etc.) and/or Project Management work experience will be an asset
