This individual contributor role is responsible for packaging bagged sorghum and sunflower seed with high levels of attention to quality and safety.

 

What You Will Do:

  • Actively assist Plant Operators in running seed processing, treating, and automatic palletizer equipment. Provide support in chemical mixing.
  • Accurately calibrate seed bagging scale to facilitate correct weight parameters.
  • Safely operate bag sewing and bag stencil printing equipment, verifying secure closures. Ensure that labels meet brand standards and correctly identifies product variety and conditioning instructions.
  • As directed, safely clean manufacturing equipment utilizing air vacuum and specialized cleaning equipment (vacuum, blowers, sprayers, scrapers).
  • Consistently employ thorough safety procedures when entering confined spaces or utilizing ladders.
  • Perform minor repairs on bagging machine, reporting equipment malfunctions to supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of bag counts, completed pallets, and related tracking information.
  • Follow quality check procedures on seed products, obtaining and accurately labeling samples.
  • Safely operate a forklift, centering loads, maintaining visibility, and following work area speed limits.
  • Demonstrate continuously flexibility in rotating tasks and learning new skills.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Perform other duties and assignments to meet operational needs of the business.

 

What You Will Bring:

  • High School diploma or equivalent certificate required. Comparable experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • An engaged safety-first mindset.
  • General understanding of liquid measurements.
  • Willingness to learn basic technology interfaces to operate automatic palletizer and seed treater.
  • Accountability to team with dependable attendance and completing share of workload.
  • Attention to detail when collecting data and completing record keeping tasks.
  • Follow through on assigned tasks from start to finish.
  • Manual dexterity to operate and repair equipment.
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds, stand, and walk throughout facility.
  • Collaborative approach to work, assisting colleagues in completing tasks.
  • Previous experience with SAP software is a bonus, but not required.
