Reporting to the Supervisor, Safety, the Coordinator, Safety is accountable for supporting and mentoring the site employees in identifying and implementing appropriate procedures and practices required to protect the safety of plant workers, and for the field level administration of the health and safety management practices and programs at Nutrien.
This position is located at our Redwater, Alberta, Canada site and is not available for remote work.
What you will do:
- Work in the field with employees and contractors to identify safety risks and concerns in a proactive, positive work environment
- Support and mentor all site personnel in the field
- Support field implementation of all Nutrien Safety Programs, policies, and procedures as well as all legislated requirements required to protect the safety of all personnel
- Ensure health and safety requirements are maintained and implementing appropriate mitigating actions when necessary
- Be the subject matter expert of health and safety programs on site and legislation requirements as well as industry best practices
- Support the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of health and safety policies, practices, and procedures in the field
- Ensure incidents and near miss incidents are reported and ensure findings are investigated with recommendations being implemented in the field
- Participate in investigations, prepare reports and work with site incident reporting software (EtQ)
- Attend safety meetings, toolbox talks and incident review meetings
- Plan daily workflow based on activity level at facility
What you will bring:
- Completion of a recognized Health and Safety Certificate/Diploma or currently working towards obtaining
- CRSP designation is considered an asset
- Certifications related to safety equipment, processes, procedures an asset
- 3+ years' experience in a safety technician role (or similar) in a heavy industrial setting
- Knowledgeable in all areas of Alberta OHS act, regulation, and code
- Basic computer skills (Word/Outlook)
