Reporting to the Supervisor, Maintenance Engineering, the Mechanical Engineer is a critical role in developing and executing engineering and capital strategies for the site to maintain safe, reliable, efficient operations. The role plays an integral part in the success of the facility by supporting initiatives that allow us to meet safety, environmental, financial, and capacity utilization targets. Success in this role requires exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities. Individuals who demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation along with outstanding interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizational skills will thrive and contribute greatly to team and organizational goals. 

 

This position is located in Redwater, Alberta, Canada and is not available for remote work.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Own mechanical design of plant changes through the MOC process.
  • Analyze maintenance history and failure data to prioritize issues and opportunities.
  • Develop preventative and predictive maintenance strategies and tactics for fixed and rotating equipment.
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis investigations.
  • Conduct equipment assessments during maintenance and inspection opportunities for repair quality, fitness for service, and life expectancy evaluation.
  • Specify pressure equipment repairs
  • Develop equipment specifications and review equipment purchases and installations to ensure that equipment is built to recognized practices
  • Work with Site Trades Groups, Planners, Engineers, Inspectors, and Projects Groups
  • Support department long-term maintenance plan and asset management goals

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 4+ years experience in an industrial environment
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation with APEGA is required
  • Knowledge of pressure vessel and piping codes: ASME B31.3, ASME Section VIII, ASME PCC-1, ASME PCC-2
  • Familiarity with API standards: API 579, API 571, API 510, API 570, API 650
  • Understanding of Alberta regulatory requirements for pressure equipment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 applications
  • Experience with PV Elite, CodeCalc, CAESAR, and Power BI is an asset
