Reporting to the Supervisor, Project Development & Continuous Improvement, the Project Development Engineer is responsible for the successful development of assigned capital projects from initiation through preliminary engineering. This includes ensuring the project objectives are clearly understood, alternatives are fully evaluated, and that project scoping and preliminary engineering is technically sound and of the required quality.  

This position is located in Redwater, Alberta, Canada and is not available for remote work.

 

What you will do:

  • Own the Conceptual design, feasibility, and basic engineering phases of the project process to provide single path forward solutions to project execution engineers for execution
  • Coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders and lead the project team to achieve conceptual design
  • Liaise with other Nutrien technical services groups, process licensors and consultants for development of new opportunities, growth, expansion and sustainability projects
  • Implement completely and in a timely manner, all documents required for project progression through all project development phases, including relevant equipment data, engineering documents, stage gate documentation, and meeting minutes
  • Act as discipline subject matter resource throughout the project execution, commissioning & start up, and operation and evaluation phases
  • Handle large and varied workloads

 

What you will bring:

  • B. Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and / or Chemical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer registered with APEGA
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Understanding and familiarity with all disciplines of engineering
  • Excellent discipline level knowledge of ammonia and urea operations and ability to act as appropriate subject matter expert during discipline reviews
  • Experience in preparing technical evaluations, performing and participating in risk analysis, completing economic evaluations
