What You'll Do:
Â
- Complete Instrumentation engineering design of capital projects. Review designs prepared by external engineering consultants.
- Prepare P&ID inputs, instrument index, input/output (I/O) count and assignments, instrument loop diagrams, instrument datasheets and sizing, load calculations.
- Support detailed instrumentation design, including interfacing to PLCs, SIS/BMS and DCS systems. Develop MRs, pressure hook-up, installation details, cable selection/sizing, material selection, piping, tubing and tube-fitting for instruments based on applicable standards and codes for projects from execution through to project closeout.
- Participate in field reviews and assist planners by providing design-related input through RFIs and observations.
- Participate in Factory acceptance test, installation, commissioning, integration, validation and associated with startup activities, as required.
- Support technical activities and action items based on Nutrien process safety management, I&C devices mechanical integrity, Safety Instrumented System (SIS) and critical instrumentation standards.
What You'll Bring:

- Bachelor of Engineering, Instrumentation or equivalent
- Registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer is an asset. (i.e. P.Eng registered in another Canadian province or territory)
- 5+ years of plant Instrumentation and controls engineering experience.
- Technical knowledge of instrumentation devices, components, and applications
- Proficiencies in process measurement, process data analysis, calculations and sizing, technology selection and technical evaluation.
- Knowledge of DCS platforms, programming, hardware and architecture, configuration, industrial networking, communication protocols, electronics, SCADA and cybersecurity are considered as an additional asset
- Knowledge of safety controls, SIS systems, BMS, risk assessment, safety lifecycle and related standards (ISA84 and IEC61508/61511)
- Exposure to IN tools or similar design software is an asset.
- Exposure to Alberta regulatory requirements for pressure equipment (ABSA)
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with a willingness to learn and grow under supervision.Â
- Ability to work and prioritize, risk-assess on multiple concurrent tasks, and meet department goals/critical timelines demonstrating agility to provide technical support with quality work.
