Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Engineering, the Engineer, Electrical Projects Development will bring a high degree of professionalism, strong problem-solving skills, and the initiative of a self-starter. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal, communication, planning, and organizational abilities, fostering effective collaboration across diverse teams. This role requires consistent application of safety-in-design principles to ensure operational integrity and mitigate risk. The ideal individual will possess strong commercial awareness, balancing cost, value, and risk trade-offs in decision-making, while effectively aligning stakeholders and influencing outcomes without formal authority. A deep understanding of plant operations, reliability, and lifecycle considerations will be essential for success.

What You'll Do:
Â
- Lead electrical engineering input for FEL1–FEL2 phases to ensure high-quality, execution-ready scope definition. Â
- Develop and evaluate project options with clear articulation of risks, costs, benefits, and lifecycle implications.Â
- Apply value engineering and cost-informed decision-making to optimize capital efficiency and avoid downstream rework.
- Prepare and maintain high-quality engineering and stage-gate deliverables, including scope, estimates, and technical documentation. Â
- Ensure designs incorporate operability, maintainability, and turnaround considerations through collaboration with operations and reliability teams. Â
- Provide technical leadership and drive stakeholder alignment, including constructively challenging assumptions as required. Â
- Liaise with technical services, OEMs, and consultants to support development of reliability, growth, and sustainability projects. Â
- Act as discipline subject matter resource, as required, throughout detailed engineering, project execution, commissioning & start up, and operation and evaluation phases.Â
- Support the Redwater site’s 5-year capital plan through risk-ranking and prioritization efforts.Â
What You'll Bring:
Â
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, ElectricalÂ
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) registered or immediately capable of registration with APEGAÂ
- 8+ years in industrial electrical engineering with experience in project development and FEL processes in operating facilities
- Strong front-end project development and FEL capability considered an assetÂ
- Knowledge of electrical design standards and applicable codes Â
- Experience working with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Power BI, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)Â
