The Project Manager, Turnaround is responsible for the tactical methods to produce efficient preparation and execution of the MRM portion of the Turnaround Event following the 7 phase TAR process. This position is responsible to ensure that the cost and scope controls reporting is accurate and consistent with the stated objectives, ensure effective controls systems are in place and being adhered to. The role will also include supervising a Nutrien scheduler and gatekeeper, contractors, vendors and working closely with the capital projects team to ensure seamless integration. In this role you will be required to maintain a high degree of strategic planning and critical thinking skills combined with a continuous improvement mindset. The successful candidate for this role will possess a strong business acumen including understanding of budgets, forecasts and actual spending, leading teams and decision making and influencing skills.
This position is located at Nutrien's Redwater, Alberta, Canada site and is not eligible for remote work.
What you will do:
- Ensure established robust controls, (i.e., WBS, EVMs, KPIs, variance analyses, Turnaround controls plan, processes, procedure, change management procedures, schedule and reports, procurement & contracts administration, cost forecasts and other deliverables are consistent within Nutrien Turnaround events. Steward the continuous improvements of Redwater Turnaround control systems and tools
- Analyze key deliverables necessary to enable the successful achievement of all targets within cost, timeline, and quality requirements. Ensure alignment of overall Turnaround scope with cost forecast. Liaise with Capital Projects Superintendent to ensure alignment on forecasting from controls perspective and alignment on Capital expenditure and overhead expense (i.e., Catalyst). Additionally, this role is responsible for integrating methodology for the two processes
- Maintain Redwater Turnaround cost reports, forecast, variance analyses. Support monthly Turnaround cost forecasting to ensure accurate annual forecasts, including cost contingency management. Coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders and lead the Turnaround development and risk ranking processes. Manage turnaround costs on an ongoing basis (i.e., cost, scope, and risk control). Facilitate review and risk ranking sessions with site stakeholders for all turnaround scope
- Manage all documents required for Turnaround progression through all phases, (AFEs, reporting, procedures, stage gate documentation, and other presentations). Ensure documents are developed for communication and tracking purposes
- Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure contract executing strategy is within compliance with the provided estimates. Make recommendations for resolution of issues to meet project objectives where contracting strategy effects overall project cost. Actively participate and support invoice attestation. Assist in monitoring PO balances across all Turnaround cost centers, collaborating with the Specialist, Turnaround Controls
- Guide and support site Turnaround management personnel as required, and ensure teams are equipped with the resources and knowledge necessary to fulfill the completion of their deliverables.
What you will bring:
- Engineering Degree, Business Degree or Technologist Diploma
- PMP designation is preferred
- 10+ years in an industrial setting and experience with Turnaround events
- Knowledge of Planisware, SAP, Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint, P6 Primavera required
