Reporting to the Sr. Manager Engineering, the Superintendent, Project Development is responsible for managing the 5-year capital portfolio and the first two stages of Nutrien’s Project Management Process - Concept Development and Project Feasibility. This includes prioritization, front-end engineering and scope development of all capital projects before turning them over to the Project Execution team. Alignment with Nutrien’s central Project Teams (Enterprise Capital, Portfolio, Nutrien Technical Services) is also a key responsibility of this position. The incumbent will lead a multidiscipline team of technical staff (Engineers and Technologists) to achieve the site’s project goals. Successful candidates for this role must be motivated and able to work in a team environment, exhibit strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, and have sound written and verbal communication skills.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Long range capital plan development and stewardship.
  • Accountable for development of capital projects i.e. completing Stage 1 and 2. This includes engineering
  • Liaise with other Nutrien technical services groups, Portfolio, Ent Capital, PMO etc. activities to determine the best solutions for project objectives.
  • Coordinate and work with Project Execution, Unit and Project controls teams
  • Improve and follow project management processes and tools such as Planisware

What You'll Bring:

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering 
  • Professional Engineer registered with APEGA, PMP is an asset
  • 15+ years of relevant experience
  • Ability to work in an active process plant is required
  • Understanding and familiarity with all disciplines of engineering
  • Understanding of Nutrien’s Project Management Processes
  • Strategic leadership and personnel management capabilities
  • Solid understanding of chemical process operations and experience with site units, e.g. Ammonia, Urea, Nitric Acid, UAN, Sulphuric Acid, and Ammonium Sulphate
