Nutrien is looking for a Safety Supervisor to join our team and champion a strong safety culture. Reporting to the EHS&S Manager, you’ll provide hands-on guidance, mentorship, and leadership to ensure compliance with OH&S legislation, Nutrien’s Safety Standards, and industry best practices. This role is critical in developing and improving site safety programs, policies, and procedures while influencing positive behaviors across the facility. Ideal candidates for this position will demonstrate strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational abilities, possess effective written and verbal communication skills, exhibit leadership and team-building strengths, and show proficiency in using the Microsoft Office Suite.
This position is located approximately 40 km northeast of Edmonton at our Redwater, Alberta, Canada site and is not available for remote work.
What You'll Do:
- Lead, mentor, and coach a team of safety professionals, fostering growth and development.
- Champion Nutrien’s Core Values by modeling safety leadership and promoting a culture of care.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve site-specific safety procedures and life-critical programs.
- Monitor and assess risks, analyze safety performance metrics, and drive corrective actions.
- Ensure timely and accurate incident reporting and documentation in EtQ.
- Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, ensuring root causes are addressed.
- Collaborate with contractors and internal teams to align safety expectations and improve programs.
- Work in both office and chemical plant settings, where seasonal weather conditions may be encountered.
- Physical activities such as walking on uneven terrain and climbing ladders or stairs.
What You'll Bring:
- OHS Certificate or equivalent degree from a recognized institution.
- CRSP designation preferred.
- 8+ years' in an industrial manufacturing setting with direct involvement in health and safety administration.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta OHS Act, Regulation, and Code.
