We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Capital Field Lead to lead the execution coordination team for major capital initiatives at our underground potash mining operation. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless field-level coordination between the company and contractors during the engineering, execution, and commissioning phases, with a strong focus on safety, quality, constructability, planning, schedule & cost adherence.

What You'll Do:

  • Supervise, support, and mentor the Project Execution Coordination Team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Serves as a strategic second-line leader, representing the Capital Team and broader company interests while actively engaging with Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure alignment, effective communication, and successful execution of cross-functional initiatives.
  • Allocate team resources effectively to meet project milestones and operational priorities.
  • Act as the primary company representative for field interfaces with contractors, ensuring alignment with safety protocols, project scope, relevant regulations and standards, engineering specifications, and the relevant project stakeholders.
  • Facilitate daily coordination meetings, resolve site-level issues, and maintain clear communication between internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Support the development and implementation of financial approval requirements, scopes of work, specifications, and bid developments and reviews for capital projects.
  • Support the development and implementation of execution plans, schedules, and supporting logistics for capital projects.
  • Monitor construction progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Ensure construction progress, project risks, and mitigation strategies are reported to the Capital Project Managers to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Collaborate with Capital PM, Capital Execution Coordination, Engineering, Procurement, Operations, Maintenance, and HSE teams to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Provide regular updates to Capital and Site leadership on project status, field challenges, and contractor performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of field activities, contractor interactions, and project changes and communicate as required.
  • Support Site Safety in completing post-incident investigations and implementation of remedial actions and communications, as required.
  • Support Site Safety with attendance a contractor safety meetings and toolbox discussions, as required.
  • Organize and lead project hand-off or turn-over activities, representing Nutrien, at completion.
  • Contribute to post-project reviews and lessons learned documentation with the Capital Project Managers.

What You'll Bring:

  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in capital project execution in underground mining, heavy industrial, or large-scale construction environments. Experience may include supervisory, coordination, or hands-on roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in managing field teams, coordinating contractors, and fostering strong working relationships across diverse disciplines.
  • Educational background in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical or trades field is considered an asset. Equivalent experience in construction or mining operations will also be considered.
  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP) is an asset, but not required. Practical experience in managing project scope, schedule, and budget is highly valued.
  • Strong understanding of construction practices, safety protocols, and project execution strategies—whether gained through formal education or field experience.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and systems (e.g., Primavera, MS Project, SAP) is preferred. Willingness to learn and adapt to digital tools is equally valued.
