The Materials Coordinator supports capital project execution at Nutrien Rocanville by managing the receipt, inventory, storage, and staging of construction and electrical materials. This role ensures timely availability and accurate tracking of materials from surface delivery to underground worksites, working closely with project managers, coordinators, other internal departments, and contractors to maintain project schedules.
What You'll Do:
- Material Receiving & Inventory Management
- Receive and organize materials from the warehouse and suppliers, verifying quantities and specifications against purchase orders.
- Act as the primary capital contact for shipping companies, ensuring proper delivery and offloading procedures are followed.
- Maintain accurate inventory records across surface and underground locations using tracking systems.
- Report and address discrepancies or damaged promptly.
- Develop and manage safe, organized storage areas on surface and underground.
- Assist in planning underground storage strategies and laydown areas for current and future projects.
- Execute materials kitting and staging plans aligned with construction sequencing and project milestones. Projects could include conveyor installations, ventilation infrastructure installation, utility installations, other major projects, and mine equipment overhauls.
- Liaise with hoisting and underground logistics teams to align transport schedules.
- Coordinate with shaft crews to prioritize material lowering and communicate regularly with project teams.
- Plan and coordinate material movement between surface and underground locations – including providing direction and priority to materials hauling technicians and other hauling support, as required.
- Optimize transportation to minimize delays and congestion in shaft areas and travelways.
- Manage end-of-project cleanup, inventory adjustments, and reallocation of spare materials.
- Forecast material needs with project managers and coordinators.
- Provide material status updates in daily coordination meetings.
- Serve as the primary contact for material-related inquiries on capital projects.
- Generate and maintain reports on inventory, staging progress, and material usage.
- Reconcile material consumption to support accurate future ordering.
- Ensure documentation is accessible.
What You'll Bring:
- Experience in materials coordination, logistics, or warehouse management, preferably in industrial or mining environments.
- Familiarity with underground mining operations, and specifically mechanical and electrical components used in UG potash infrastructure is an asset
- Familiarity with underground mining capital project workflows is an asset.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with inventory systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work underground and adapt to dynamic project conditions.
- Site-based role with regular underground work.
- PPE and underground mine training required.
- May require shift work or extended hours during peak project phases or maintenance turnarounds.
