What you will do:

Reporting to the Mill Maintenance Superintendent, the successful candidate will work with the site to help deliver safe and efficient production of potash by prioritizing and completing critical capital projects effectively.  This role is suited to someone who has managed many industrial or mining projects successfully and has a good understanding of simple to complex projects and all the process and systems needed to achieve success.  This person must have progressive leadership experience and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The successful candidate will effectively manage the Mill Capital Portfoio including but not limited to the following duties:

  • Safety leader in all stages of an operational/project lifecyle with a track record in risk identification and effective mitigation
  • Support the creation of the site 5 and 20 year plans aligning to safety and production targets delivering value in accordance with corporate PMO governance. This includes stewarding to KPI’s, working with stakeholders and sponsors ensuring the portfolio delivers value, and risk identification/mitigation
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to the team, prioritizing safety and inclusion
  • Support and collaborate with Engineering, Operations and Maintenance on the prioritization of project activities as needs arise while being accountable for the adherence to governance policies
  • Champion stakeholder engagement and collaboration on and across sites creating a culture of trust to foster innovation
  • Recruiting, teaching, coaching, and mentoring of project management resources
  • Work with the Capital Projects Group to ensure projects are developed and executed consistent with Nutrien Rocanville expectations and standards, including equipment selection
  • Work in conjunction with the Site Turnaround Leadership team to communicate project performance and changes with stakeholders

What you will bring:

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Engineering Degree in any discipline or Geology Degree
    • P. Eng. designation preferred
  • 7 yrs or more progressive experience in leading and managing projects
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Project Management Professional designation preferred
  • Mining Industry background preferred

  • Highly motivated
  • Detail oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Project management training would be considered an asset

  • Experience with project coordination, construction management, supervision, quality assurance, control, and procurement are all considered assets
