The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for leading process optimization, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives across the plant. This role is critical in ensuring efficient, safe, cost effective and environmentally compliant operations across the plant’s milling, flotation, crystallization, compaction, and drying processes. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, leadership skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving

 

What you will do:

  • Lead process design, optimization, and troubleshooting efforts to improve plant performance
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Develop and implement process control strategies and automation improvements
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure smooth and efficient plant operations.
  • Support capital projects, including scope development, design, commissioning, and startup
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Prepare and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, mass and energy balances
  • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices
  • Monitoring quality in all stages of the process to determine improvements opportunities and to maintain production and enhance safety.
  • Assists with supervisor duties for the Lab Technicians
  • Analyze test results for potential improvements
  • Responsible to provide technical support in the development and optimization of existing processes
  • Areas of focus will include maintaining stable process control, achieving production targets, accurate metallurgical accounting and reducing operating costs

 

What you will bring:

  • Chemical/Process Engineering Degree or equivalent education preferred; would consider other Engineering discipline
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation
  • 7+ years of experience in process engineering, preferably in a plant or manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience in mineral processing would be an asset, preference for potash or flotation process
  • Safety Commitment
  • Strong leadership skills to help bring accountability to your team by creating a supportive and motivating work environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential
  • Organization and time management skills will be essential for managing the research initiative
  • Must be able to work independently or in a team structure
