This position is located at the Nutrien Rocanville Potash site.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Ensure a safe work environment for all employees and contractors by assisting in the development, promotion, and maintenance of the Nutrien Safety Systems to ensure that established Departmental, Divisional, and Corporate goals are met or surpassed
  • Assist in developing, monitoring, and incorporating a culture of safety into the Rocanville operation
  • Work in the field with employees and contractors to identify safety risks and concerns in a proactive, positive work environment
  • Support and mentor all site personnel in the field
  • Support field implementation of all Nutrien Safety Programs, policies, and procedures as well as all legislated requirements required to protect the safety of all personnel
  • Ensure health and safety requirements are maintained and implementing appropriate mitigating actions when necessary
  • Be the subject matter expert of health and safety programs on site and base legislation requirements as well as industry best practices which may not be documented in Nutrien documentation
  • Support the implementation, monitoring, and maintenance of health and safety policies, practices, and procedures in the field
  • Ensure incidents and near miss incidents are reported and ensure findings are investigated with recommendations being implemented in the field
  • Participate in investigations, prepare reports, and work with site incident reporting software (EtQ)
  • Attend safety meetings, line out meetings, and incident review meetings when required
  • Administer new hire orientations in relation to site Safety
  • Plan daily workflow based on activity level at facility
  • Be comfortable using authority to stop work

What you will bring:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 3-5 years heavy industrial experience
  • 2-3 years of experience in safety, or a similar role
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification preferred
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) considered an asset
  • Certifications related to safety equipment, processes, procedures an asset
  • Strong Safety Commitment
  • Knowledge of the OH&S Act and Regulations and a general understanding of Safety Systems
  • Strong leadership qualities and interpersonal skills 
  • Basic computer skills (Word/Outlook/Excel/PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain open communications with subordinates, peers, supervisors and service providers
  • Availability in case of emergency
  • Good oral and written skills and demonstrated ability to prepare and deliver materials and make presentations in a group or classroom situation
  • Self-motivated and independent
