You will advise on IT infrastructure strategy and deployment, ensuring that global standards are clearly defined, maintained, and consistently adopted across regions and teams. Working closely with other domain architects, business relationship managers (BRMs), partners, and key stakeholders, you will ensure infrastructure solutions align with business needs while adhering to enterprise architecture principles. You will translate stakeholder requirements into standardized solutions or scalable deployment models for new infrastructure patterns. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong interpersonal skills to influence direction, build alignment, and foster cross-functional collaboration in a globally distributed environment.
What you will do:
- Provide enterprise-level architectural leadership across Nutrien’s infrastructure portfolio including cloud, datacenters, storage, compute, and backup/restore systems.
- Define, maintain, and drive the adoption of infrastructure standards including cloud-hosted infrastructure, and create and communicate design patterns that promote global consistency.
- Translate stakeholder requirements into infrastructure designs or standardized deployment models, working with SMEs to create scalable and supportable solutions.
- Collaborate with various stakeholders and other domain architects in Network, EUC, Cybersecurity, Applications, Operational Technology, and local site support to ensure the seamless integration of infrastructure services.
- Create strategic roadmaps for infrastructure platforms in collaboration with vendors and internal delivery teams.
- Define and guide the implementation of local infrastructure standards across diverse environments—including offices, mines, and remote facilities—to support strategic growth.
- Support the vision and execution for infrastructure workload automation across platforms to reduce manual effort and support efficient operations.
- Support and champion monitoring and observability as a default expectation, enhancing performance visibility and security posture.
- Participate in incident planning and response efforts, ensuring infrastructure readiness for IT service restoration after operational disruptions.
- Advise on infrastructure-related projects globally, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and business needs.
- Ensure adherence to change management processes, including site-specific Management of Change (MoC) procedures, where applicable.
What you will bring:
- Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible IT experience with at least 5 years in infrastructure design.
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent relevant experience.
- Proven experience architecting and supporting large-scale infrastructure systems.
- A record of success in global, multi-site, cross-functional IT operations.
- Experience managing large IT deployments and vendor relationships.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of aligning technical decisions with business strategy.
- Strong analytical capabilities in evaluating and improving technical architecture.
- Deep expertise in infrastructure design and operations (datacenter, backup, storage, virtualization, and computing).
- Analytical and strategic thinker with the ability to influence direction across a large, complex enterprise.
- Ability to lead, mentor, and build consensus within cross-functional and multicultural teams.
- Adept at managing complexity and ambiguity while delivering clear architectural direction.
- Skill in cost-benefit analysis, technology risk management, and service design.
- Experience with enterprise architecture domains and methodologies (e.g., TOGAF, ITIL, COBIT, PMI).
- Familiarity with agricultural, industrial, or manufacturing sectors is an asset but not required.
- Previous experience in forming and maintaining relationships with Operational Technology teams is an asset.
