Mine Engineer / Geologist – Sr. Mine Engineer / Sr. Geologist - Mine Engineer-in-Training/ Geologist-in-Training
This role is based in Saskatoon and will involve both office work and fieldwork at various Nutrien mine sites. This position will report to Manager, Mine Development within Nutrien’s Engineering, Technology and Capital department.
Salary and title will be based on the level of education and experience of the candidate.
What you will do:
- Collaborate closely with Site Engineering and Engineering Technology & Capital (ETC) teams to deliver a variety of underground mining and technical projects that support Potash Operations
- Participate in research, data collection, and analytical activities to inform operational decisions
- Prepare thorough reports and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations
- Coordinate both site-based and external resources as project needs evolve
- Support mine engineering and potash mining operations across a range of specialized areas, including:
- Shaft design and sump management
- Mine process data review, compilation, and validation
- Inflow management
- Mine design and planning
- Mine ventilation
- Ground control
- Rock mechanics
- Perform other tasks aligned with operational support as required
What you will bring:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or Geological Sciences, or a degree in a related field
- Must be registered or be eligible for registration with APEGS
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in potash mining; shaft experience is considered an asset
- Ability to travel to supporting sites as needed.
- Excellent oral and written communication, documentation, and presentation skills
- Demonstrated commitment to positive safety behaviors and safety leadership
- Ability and willingness to learn new skills and adapt quickly to shifting work requirements
- Well-developed organizational and analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail
- Proficient in analytical techniques and computer applications relevant to mining and geology
- Comfortable working in underground mining environments
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams or independently, as needed
