Reporting to the Director, Sales, Canada this role is a key contributor to Nutrien’s sales organization. You will be responsible for assisting the management of several of Nutrien’s largest national accounts. Working as a member of the Western Canadian Sales Team, you will be responsible for supporting sales activities related to product pricing, contract management, shipping, and customer relationship management.

What you will do:

  • Responsible for contract and price exception input as well as monthly contract extension, review, and storage fee process owner.
  • Responsible for reviewing contract performance by reviewing customer performance on individual contracts, providing weekly update of overall contract status, providing updates for key customer groups, and successfully closing contracts or communicate required extensions.
  • Responsible for reviewing annual contract performance on a quarterly basis, providing shipping updates, and performing weekly position report to plan volumes opposite shipments and commitments by product by customer by segment.
  • Responsible for Netback Analysis for the development of Price Exceptions and contracts and aid in analysis of competition and competitive positions.
  • Responsible for team agenda, coordination of weekly Sales Meeting management, coordination of ad-hoc meetings as needed, and coordination of weekly PM meetings.
  • Responsible for accurate weekly position report and managing ad hoc reporting ongoing.
  • Assist Sales by inputting changes to forecasts resulting from meetings if or while sales personnel are travelling.
  • Assist Sales in inventory management by monitoring product inventory levels in plants and warehouses on a weekly basis out of season, and daily in season.
  • Assist Sales by gathering pertinent info (release #’s, ship dates, weather conditions, etc.) when product quality complaint issues arise.
  • Provide sales support and backup when Western Canadian Sales Team members are travelling or on vacation.
  • Progress in skill and confidence to a level that ownership of certain products or customers is possible for personal growth and development.
  • Assist Sales with product allocations and lead allocations proportioning on a product line and facility basis.
  • Assist Sales Team with project work as it arises.
  • Responsible for A/R Support; billing dispute resolution and performing late payments management.
  • Utilize analytical skills to assist sales managers and regional lead to understand historical netbacks on a customer and product line basis for optimization.
  • Manage strategies to improve netbacks basis the above information, and track progress and measure results.
  • Responsible on an annual basis for comparing customer fertilizer year programming rebates, targets, and incentives statistically and reviewing with regional lead to ensure equity.
  • Aid in planning and hosting customer and team events, attend customer functions, and add value with market and Nutrien intelligence.
  • Gather information for effective power point presentations from internal and external sources and work with sales team to develop presentations for customer events or other venues to help generate positive impact at customer meetings.
  • Travel frequently for business-related events and meetings.

What you will bring: 

  • 8 years of previous Sales experience.
  • A bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business, a pertinent field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet sales goals and objectives. 
  • Possess excellent analytical and reporting capability.
  • Awareness of industry standards related to handling, storage and use of fertilizer products.
  • Highly developed customer service skills with a proven ability to develop strong client relationships.
  • Motivated self-starter with a results and solution orientation and the ability to sustain a professional growth strategy while working independently.
  • Excellent presentation skills. Solid working knowledge of the Microsoft Office components Word, Excel, Power Bi, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of SAP and MSS is considered an asset.
