This position is a seasonal position and will be from April 2025 – October 2025.

 

Located within Innovation Place in Saskatoon, SK, as part of our Pathology Team, you will travel extensively throughout Saskatchewan and be involved with the establishment, maintenance and rating of canola disease testing plots.

 

What you will do:
 

  • Field seed bed preparations and flagging of sites.
  • Seed treatment and set-up of seeding envelopes.
  • Assist in seeding of small plot field nurseries.
  • Operate small plot field equipment such as tractors, seeders, sprayers, mowers, and tillage tools.
  • Drive a truck and trailer to move equipment between sites.
  • Assist in applying pesticides and inoculum to test plots.
  • Assist in plot rating activities.
  • Fall land preparation, including application of herbicides and fertilizer.
  • Equipment calibration and maintenance.
  • Assist technicians, agronomists and plant breeders with other duties as required.
  • Assist with laboratory field inoculum preparations.
  • Extensive travel is required.

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Punctual, reliable and able to work outdoors.
  • High level of attention to detail resulting in consistent outcomes.
  • Proven problem solving and critical thinking abilities in team and individual settings.
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • Small plot field trial experience or agricultural or farm experience is an asset but not required.
  • Mechanical aptitude with farm machinery is required.
