Through the collective expertise of our nearly 26,000 employees, we operate a world-class network of production, distribution, and ag retail facilities. We efficiently serve growers' needs and strive to provide a more profitable, sustainable, and secure future for all stakeholders.  Help us raise the expectation of what an agriculture company can be and grow your career with Nutrien.

Trusted, resilient and impact-focused, the Senior Advisor, Upstream & Midstream supports the business segments that drive Nutrien’s success today, and into the future. From crafting strategic communications plans from the ground up, to the execution of mind-blowing deliverables that set new standards for best practice, candidates will redefine what it means to be a “generalist”. We’re on the hunt for someone who’s a steady hand, isn’t afraid to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty, and uses their whole brain in their role as strategic partner to our upstream (potash, nitrogen and phosphate) businesses, as well as Nutrien’s midstream group. By building foundational relationships with business leaders, you’ll serve as a valued partner, leading the development and delivery of coordinated communications planning and activation.

What You'll Do:

  • Build, execute and evaluate strategic communications plans born from strategies built for each operating segment, delivering on global communications and business objectives
  • Support the development of our Crisis Communications hub, crafting materials and training that will help protect our Freedom to Operate
  • Collaborate with content and digital teams, and create compelling narratives through a variety of channels, sharing with audiences the successes of our business
  • Be the one-stop-shop for business segments within our upstream and midstream business, providing real-time support to manage issues, uncover solutions and proactively support their goals
  • Have your finger on the pulse of our operations, connecting with the unique needs of each site and providing partnership and guidance where needed
  • Evolve complex and technical information into digestible, understandable and relatable nuggets that resonate with stakeholders
  • Deliver high-value change communications for impactful business projects, including the transition to an Integrated Management System, acquisitions and divestitures, and operational improvements
  • Drive towards KPIs that move the needle on value, understanding, engagement and action
  • Integrate with teams at the community level, putting your ear to the ground to know what’s the buzz locally and how we can be ahead of curve by owning the narrative
  • Be a voice at the table, working in close partnership with members of the global communications team to support communications activities including media relations, events and town halls, multimedia collection, publication materials and general content

What You'll Bring:

  • Degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field
  • 6+ years of experience developing and executing strategic communications plans for complex, operational or industrial organizations required
  • Experience supporting or advising during crisis or emergency situations, and understanding of Incident Command System (ICS) or Public Information Officer (PIO) roles required
  • Expertise supporting frontline teams in rural and/or remote operating environments, such as mines, plants, terminals, or field-based facilities required
  • Familiarity advising senior leaders and site leadership on communications strategy, message delivery and channel selection in operational or high-risk environments
  • Capabilities in establishing communications objectives, defining and tracking KPIs, and using performance insights to evaluate impact and inform evidence-based decisions aligned to business outcomes
