Nutrien is seeking a Senior Director, Global Benefits & Retirement to lead the strategy, design, and governance of our global benefit and retirement programs. This role sits within the Total Rewards Center of Expertise (CoE) and is responsible for setting the global framework and design principles that ensure our programs are competitive, sustainable, compliant, and aligned to Nutrien’s business strategy and values.
The role leads a specialized global team and works closely with other HR teams, Finance, Legal, and external partners to deliver high impact programs that support attraction, retention, and wellbeing of our employees worldwide. Â

What You'll Do:
Â
- Global Strategy & Program Design:
- Define and lead the global benefit and retirement strategy, including health, welfare, disability management and retirement programs across regions
- Establish global design principles, governance standards, and operating models, while enabling appropriate country‑specific flexibility
- Design and oversee benefit and retirement programs that operate effectively across unionized and nonunionized workforces, ensuring compliance with collective agreements and alignment with global design principles.Â
- Drive continuous improvement, simplification, and harmonization of programs where possible.
- Provide deep subject‑matter leadership for U.S. and Canada benefit and retirement programs, including pension, DC, health and welfare, disability management and statutory requirements
- Support and advise on benefit and retirement design in other key markets that Nutrien operates
- Act as a thought partner to HR leaders on emerging markets, acquisitions, and workforce changes.
- Oversee vendor strategy, funding approaches, plan design changes, and compliance with applicable regulations
- Partner with Finance and Legal on cost management, risk mitigation, and governance
- Team & Stakeholder Leadership:
- Lead and develop a high‑performing global team within the Total Rewards CoE
- Build strong relationships with senior HR leaders, Finance, Legal, business stakeholders and Labour Relations teams.
- Present complex issues and recommendations clearly to executive leadership and governance forums
- Governance, Compliance & Vendor Management:
- Ensure strong governance, risk management, and compliance across all programs
- Oversee global vendors, consultants, and advisors to ensure service quality, value, and innovation
- Monitor external trends, legislative changes, and best practices to inform future program design
What You'll Bring:

- 15+ years of progressive experience in retirement and benefits, with significant experience in the United States and Canada, including at least 5 years of progressive leadership experience.Â
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Finance or related fields. Equivalent level of education and experience may be considered.Â
- Proven experience leading global or multi‑country benefit and retirement programs within a large, complex organization.
- Demonstrated success operating within a CoE.
- Strong people leadership experience, including leading and developing specialized teams.
- Deep technical knowledge of retirement, health & welfare, and disability management program design.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
- Experience or working knowledge of Australian benefits and superannuation programs or other regions that Nutrien operates is a strong asset.
Preferred/Assets: - CEBS designation or equivalent.
- Experience or working knowledge of Australian benefits and superannuation programs or other regions that Nutrien operates is a strong asset.
- Experience supporting or serving as a member of a Pension Committee or similar governance body, with exposure to fiduciary responsibilities, funding policy, and investment oversight.Â
- Background working closely with executive committees on Total Rewards topics.
