What You'll Do:

 

  • Model and lead our culture of care and comply with all Nutrien Ag Solutions’ and industry regulatory and EH&S standards
  • Advocate Commitment to Zero corporate strategy
  • Plan, organize and conduct or arrange for training programs/seminars for Nutrien Ag Solutions (Canada) Inc. supervisors and employees, with regards to WHMIS, Fall Protection, Safety Orientation, Personal Protection Equipment, CPR/First Aid, industry specific related issues and other occupational safety issues
  • Perform job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures, written reports and recommendations
  • Monitor adherence to the company safety program by all Nutrien Ag Solutions (Canada) Inc. employees and subcontractors
  • Coordinate a Joint Health and Safety Committee for sites with 10 or more employees
  • Assist in the development and implementation of site-specific occupational safety programs
  • Respond to employee safety concerns and incidents, such as chemical spills; investigate and submit incident reports to ETQ and communicate with the SHE Retail Advisor and leaders as needed
  • Provide guidance to management and employee groups on a wide range of occupational safety issues and decisions
  • Develop and conduct monthly occupational safety training for various workgroups, including evaluation of programs to meet local, provincial, and federal OH&S requirements
  • Coordinate regular inspections, investigations, and safety related activities to maintain workplace safety
  • Collaborate with the SH&E Advisor to investigate incidents, determine root causes, and oversee the development and implementation of corrective action plans
  • Review accident and injury data analysis to identify the need for new or revised Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
  • Research occupational safety practices and equipment to ensure the adoption of the most effective hazard mitigation methods
  • Conduct a tailgate meeting each morning and communicate essential safety information to all employees
  • Participate in audits and ensure timely completion of corrective actions resulting from audit findings
  • Performs Warehouse Specialist duties when not engaged in SSC responsibilities, as outlined below:
    • Effectively follow operational plans to ensure efficient flow of customer products
    • Review bills of lading to pick orders in a safe, timely, and accurate manner
    • Ensure all orders are properly staged and verified for accuracy
    • Prioritize trailer loading based on delivery schedules
    • Inspect incoming goods, document any damages, and ensure proper storage according to standards
    • Accurately complete bills of lading, ensuring correct routing and legibility
    • Consistently follow safety procedures for operating various equipment and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
    • Inspect equipment and facilities for safety deficiencies and promptly report risks of injury or damage to the Warehouse Supervisor
    • Maintain an organized warehouse, storing products in compliance with Agrichemical Warehousing Standards (AWS)

What You'll Bring:

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent certificate is required
  • 7 years of experience in occupational health and safety in an agricultural, warehouse, or related field is required. Education and experience may be considered in lieu of experience requirement
  • Sask Polytech Occupational Health and Safety certificate (or equivalent) is an asset
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations
  • Proven ability to coach others and lead change while building a strong team dynamic and safety-focused culture
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be a highly motivated, service and team-oriented individual with an attention to detail
  • Proficiency with database applications and administration systems, specifically Microsoft Office and SAP
  • Ability to lift 50 – 60 lbs on a routine basis when performing Warehouse Support role
