This position is located in Saskatoon, SK.

 

Reporting to the Margin Reporting Manager, the Sr Accountant, Margin Reporting is responsible for all gross margin reporting for the Nitrogen, Phosphate and Potash segments. Along with understanding key business drivers, this includes a high degree of systems knowledge, understanding the source system transactions, eliminations between entities and segments, and various software programs and how they integrate with each other. This position will also work closely with the Manager, leading initiatives and providing recommendations on process improvements.  There is a high degree of interaction and collaboration required with various stakeholders within the business, including but not limited to: Commercial, FP&A, Tax, Corporate Accounting, Consolidations and IT.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports for gross margin reporting, utilizing Hana, BPC, SAP ECC, SAP S4, Oracle and Excel
  • Analyze gross margin results to ensure accuracy, making appropriate inquiries and corrections if issues are identified
  • Post monthly journal entries for gross margin and legal entity reporting
  • Act as first point of contact for any questions on Nutrien’s NPK gross margin results, with a strong understanding of key drivers, the underlying transactional data and complex consolidation concepts around eliminations
  • Identify and work with other departments to resolve inter and intracompany product sale related discrepancies
  • Prepare annual reporting and respond to queries as they arise regarding gross margin tax reporting
  • Take the lead role in identifying, planning and executing change initiatives with a focus on ensuring the accuracy of data
  • Coordinate testing and reconciliations related to HANA, SAP, Oracle and BPC for NPK gross margin
  • Ensure SOX compliance and provide recommendations to senior management on developing controls
  • Manage ad-hoc and non-routine requests related to gross margin reporting

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Accounting designation with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, HANA and BPC is an asset
  • Ability to embrace change and have a “process improvement” mindset
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Superior problem-solving skills
  • Ability to understand various software programs and independently research data issues
  • Capable of working with a high level of attention to detail in a dynamic environment
  • Have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders, tailoring communication to meet the audience
  • Ability to prioritize and manage numerous tasks, projects, stakeholder interests, and deadlines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Vlookups, pivot tables etc.)
