The Nutrien Corporate Development team is responsible for leading and coordinating the company’s merger, acquisition, divestiture and partnership (M&A) processes from start to finish.  The Senior Director, Corporate Development will report to the Vice President, Corporate Development with responsibility for end-to-end transaction execution across Nutrien’s global enterprise.  

 

What You'll Do:

 

  • Drive end-to-end merger, acquisition, divestiture and partnership initiatives including deal evaluation, structuring, financial analysis, project management, due diligence, negotiation and integration planning
  • Lead and mentor a team of highly skilled M&A professionals, internal project teams and external advisors in the execution of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and partnerships.
  • Determine and communicate impacts of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and partnerships on strategy execution, financial forecasts, and enterprise-wide impacts
  • Prepare, present, discuss and seek approval for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and partnerships with Executive Leadership and Board of Directors.

What You'll Bring:

 

  • Degree in a related discipline (e.g. Finance, Accounting, Actuarial, Engineering) and either a financial designation (e.g. CFA, CPA, FSA) or MBA are required
  • 15+ years of related experience preferably in an international and publicly traded company, investment banking or private equity role with demonstrated progressive management and leadership skills, of which 5 years are in progressive leadership roles
  • Excellent strategic and analytical thinking and creative problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build the trust and confidence of internal and external industry partners
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills combined with superior project management skills to support large functional teams and complex projects
  • An ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, as well as through preparation of high-quality PowerPoint presentations to Executive Leadership and Board of Directors
  • Comfort working in a high-paced environment with very tight deadlines and adapt to changing priorities
  • Expertise in business valuation concepts, structures and financial model design and development
  • Knowledge of distribution business and/or agriculture industry a plus
