Sr. Manager, Capital Portfolio Controls & Reporting (Temporary, 12 month Term)
The Sr. Manager, Capital Portfolio Controls & Reporting reports to the Director of Capital and Project Management in the Potash Operating Segment and oversees capital budgeting, reporting, and analysis for the Potash Capital Portfolio. This role works together with the Potash Corporate & Site capital teams to ensure the integrity of foundational systems, tools, and processes, providing accurate data and reports to support strategic decisions and capital governance, ensuring the portfolio delivers the expected business value.
The Sr. Manager will provide analysis for capital projects including work supporting sensitivity analysis, risk evaluation, assumption validation, as well as economic and financial models. A strong business development aptitude with the ability to articulate the value of projects within the Potash Portfolio will be required. This role will provide guidance and expertise while building relationships with the Site Accounting, Finance, Enterprise Capital and Site Capital teams. Strong communication skills are necessary, as this role will be required to interact and provide the necessary information for decision making to all levels within Nutrien.
The Sr. Analyst, Capital Projects reports to this position.
The position is located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and is office-based.
What you will do:
- Responsible for consolidated capital budgeting, reporting and analysis including the foundational systems, tools and processes for ensuring quality and accuracy of the portfolio
- Oversee prioritization of capital projects to achieve goals and objectives aligned with business strategy through use of the Project Value Index (PVI) process for projects across the Potash Operating Segment
- Collaborate with site and corporate teams to improve and support alignment of Nutrien’ s Capital Prioritization Processes
- Responsible for the creation of capital project reports, communications, and presentations for review by Senior Leadership, Nutrient President(s), the Executive Leadership Team, CFO and CEO
- Prepare consolidated project slides for the Potash Operating Segment for the five year and annual capital presentations
- Work autonomously and generally facilitate resolution of unusual or difficult situations without detailed supervision
- Provide support for the standardization and continuous improvement of the Capital Processes across the business
- Development, improvement and monitoring Key Performance Indicators
- Engage teams to embrace change and support the continuous improvement of the Corporation’s capital strategies and aligned project management procedures
What you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or degree in Project Management from a recognized institution, a combination of education and experience may be considered
- CFA designation is preferred
- Demonstrated track record of 10+ years of related experience in Mining, Mineral Processing, or similar Industrial companies
- PMP (Project Management Professional) Designation considered an asset
- Proficient in Excel
- Experience creating complex financial models considered an asset
- Proficiency in Oracle or SAP considered an asset
- Demonstrated analytical skills
- Ability to lead/coach people to maintain the highest levels of expertise and performance
- High level of motivation
- Ability to work successfully in an environment with minimal supervision and a high degree of interaction between management, teams, and team members
