The Sr. Buyer is a pivotal role to achieve our goals of sourcing strategy excellence. This role will have the opportunity to help implement and ensure high-quality execution of capital projects and site operational procurement duties. This role is also responsible for executing day-to-day site procurement duties, supporting areas as assigned by leadership. This role will be report to the Procurement Manager and is not eligible for remote work. Travel may be required.

What You'll Do:
Â
- Strategic Sourcing & Contract Execution:
- Lead sourcing strategies for site services, engineering equipment, and capital projects
- Develop, negotiate, and execute supplier contracts including Master Services Agreements (MSA’s), service and project contracts
- Lead competitive sourcing events (RFP/RFQ) and conduct commercial negotiations with suppliers
- Partner with engineering, operations, and maintenance leadership to structure commercial agreements and manage supplier risk
- Manage contract lifecycle including amendments, renewals, and performance obligations
- Supplier Relationship & Performance Management:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers supporting site operations
- Support supplier management programs including performance reviews, service level monitoring, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Hold suppliers accountable to contractual service levels and escalate issues as needed to site leadership
- Procurement Operations Support:
- Represent Nutrien Procurement with engineering, operations, maintenance, and contractors
- Mange the ISNetworld database to ensure key suppliers maintain compliance
- Facilitate supplier onboarding and contract implementation
- Provide oversight and support for source-to-pay procurement activities supporting capital, operational, and maintenance requirements
- Process invoices in accordance with Nutrien procurement policies and procedures
- Address supplier inquiries and coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve procurement issues
- Maintain regular communication with the Site Procurement Manager to align priorities and support site procurement objectives
What You'll Bring:

- Minimum 6+ years relevant experience in strategic sourcing and supply chain management and a bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, management or similar
- Demonstrated experience leading commercial negotiations and executing supplier contracts (MSA’s or project contracts) valued at significant spend levels
- Ability to independently lead complex sourcing events and supplier negotiations with minimal supervision
- Experience with major categories such as: Electrical & Instrumentation, Engineered  Equipment, Construction Services, Engineering Services, Project Management etc.
- Broad  experience in supply chain, source-to-pay processes and tools, category strategy implementation, supplier contract execution, and supplier risk management
- Analytical abilities and experience using quantitative insights to make decisions and influence stakeholders
- Deep familiarity with the Microsoft office suite, practical experience with enterprise asset management systems (SAP/Oracle), spend management tools (e.g., Ariba, Analysis & Reports), data management tools and source-to-pay systems (eProcurement)
- Certifications in disciplines such as Procurement (SCMP/CPSM), Inventory Management (CIPS), Lean / Six Sigma, or Operational Planning preferred, but not required
- Excellent analytical skills, ability to identify solutions to the problems of the operation with the lowest total cost of ownership
- Ability to handle tough negotiations, unique challenges, and analyze processes in areas using continuous improvement methodologies
- Empathy and relational skills for teamwork are fundamental to this role
