Job Summary

 

Reporting to the Manager, Capital Procurement, the Senior Advisor, Capital Procurement – TD&L, will be responsible for the full lifecycle management of Project Contracts, from creation to closeout. You will ensure alignment with Nutrien’s capital procurement objectives by collaborating with capital project teams and executing strategic contracting and commercial planning. Your expertise will support efficient use of capital for Nutrien’s capital portfolios, ensure effective risk management, and contribute to successful procurement outcomes.

What You'll Do:

 

  • Execute procurement sourcing activities for capital projects across Nutrien’s network of distribution terminals, upholding the integrity of best procurement practice, while ensuring these practices are in accordance with Nutrien policies and procedures
  • Facilitate the sourcing of goods and services, including leading the RFx processes, reviewing scopes of work, establishing evaluation criteria and contract strategy/commercial compensation structures for engineering, construction and equipment purchases
  • Responsible for leading bid evaluations, drafting contract exhibits with project specific details (safety, KPIs, milestones, productivity), leading & supporting negotiation of terms and conditions, and supporting contract execution through closeout activities
  • Manage the day-to-day procurement of goods & services, invoice & PO management, contract related requests such as supporting contractor on-boarding requirements, change management activities, and claims management
  • Lead efforts for strategic alignment and procurement effectiveness with Category Management, other Procurement team members, and the business
  • Proactively develop procurement strategies, providing expert advice and obtaining stakeholder buy-in for current and future capital procurement needs while ensuring compliance to company policies and procedures
  • Perform additional tasks as defined by the Capital Manager such as market intelligence, supplier landscape assessment, MSA reviews, risk assessments, total cost of ownership evaluation, legal engagement, commercial negotiations, bid evaluation, KPI development, and supplier performance reviews

What You'll Bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Business, Engineering, Law, or a related discipline  A combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered
  • 7+ years’ relevant experience in strategic sourcing, contract management, Supply Chain Management, project management, engineering, or a related field
  • Certifications in related disciplines such as procurement (e.g. SCMP/CPSM) are considered an asset
  • Targeted experience in competitive sourcing, supplier negotiations, contract execution, supplier relationship management, spend analytics, and supplier risk management will be considered a strong asset
  • Experience with contract management/administration, including invoice validation, contract interpretation, and claims management, will be considered an asset
  • Broad experience in supply chain, source-to-contract and source-to-pay processes and tools, supplier identification & relationship management, & contract execution with proficiency in legal and commercial contract negotiations
  • Clear and solid understanding of, and practical experience with, enterprise asset management systems (SAP/Oracle), spend management tools (e.g., Ariba, Analysis & Reports) 
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Strong commercial and business acumen, solid technical and analytical skills
  • Proven track record in leading engagements or problem-solving with experience coordinating cross-functional teams
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and ability to quickly adapt to new technologies
  • A proactive, high-energy mindset with the ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment, effectively engaging with both internal customers and external suppliers
