What You'll Do:

 

  • Model our core value of safety by leading and enabling a culture in which you and your team actively contribute to a safe work environment.
  • Partner with the Director, Category Management and key stakeholders to develop and manage category strategies for assigned categories and sub‑categories by driving the category playbook, identifying value initiatives, managing key global suppliers and agreements, identifying supplier/site risks, and developing mitigation plans.
  • MRO generally includes pipes, fittings, flanges, valves, bearing and power equipment, electrical supplies, and general industrial supplies.
  • Partner with sites to operationalize results and manage a comprehensive change management strategy across locations.
  • Drive ongoing site engagement with Site Procurement Managers to collect business requirements for sub‑categories, site‑specific risks, and opportunities to inform broader category strategies.
  • Build and lead a team of Category Managers, Specialists, and Analysts to develop sub‑category strategies aligned with the overarching category strategy.
  • Coach Category Analysts to develop category and spend analytics, along with market insights tailored to support both global category strategies and site‑level needs.
  • Oversee the development and execution of category KPIs aligned to Procurement, Business Units, and Site GPS procurement goals to measure the effectiveness of strategic spend management.
  • Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with suppliers, defining KPIs and best practices for supplier performance (e.g., on‑time delivery), jointly identifying cost‑saving levers, inventory optimization opportunities (lead times, etc.), and value‑added services.
  • Ensure local suppliers, community partnerships, and Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion engagement strategies are prioritized and executed collaboratively to create sustainable long‑term value for Nutrien and the communities where we operate.
  • Collaborate with peer Category Management, Site Procurement, and Capital Procurement teams to leverage Nutrien‑wide synergies and ensure value generation and service‑level performance expectations are consistently maintained.

What You'll Bring:

 

  • 15+ years relevant experience in category management, strategic sourcing, supply chain management, project management, engineering, or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience with MRO category sourcing activities
  • Broad experience in supply chain, source-to-contract and source-to-pay processes and tools, and a more targeted experience in spend analytics, category strategy development and implementation, competitive sourcing, supplier negotiations & contract execution, supplier relationship & contract management and supplier risk management.
  • Track record of effectively driving and managing organizational change and influencing diverse audiences to achieve challenging objectives
  • Analytical abilities and experience using quantitative insights to make decisions and influence stakeholders
  • Experience in leading teams across distributed geographic networks
  • Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in Business, Engineering, or similar discipline, MBA/Master’s degree preferred
