The Engineering Superintendent reports to the General Manager. This position is located at our Sussex, Newbrunswick site.
What you will do:
- Direct and lead the Engineering and Capital Projects Team, supporting the operation and execution of the capital program
- Oversee all aspects of the Environmental Program (Air, Waste, Water, TMA, Groundwater, and Monitoring Wells)
- Oversee the budget and decommissioning plans for Cassidy Lake and Penobsquis sites
- Be a safety leader in all stages of an operational/project lifecycle with a track record in risk identification and effective mitigation
- Support the creation of the site 5- and 20-year plans aligning to safety, quality and production targets, delivering value in accordance with corporate PMO governance
- Steward KPI’s, working with stakeholders and sponsors to ensure the portfolio delivers value, and risk identification/mitigation
- Provide guidance and mentorship to a technical team, prioritizing safety and inclusion
- Support and collaborate with Operations and Maintenance on the prioritization of engineering and project activities as needs arise while being accountable for the adherence to governance policies including: Management of Change, PSIM, CAPMAP, etc.
- Champion stakeholder engagement and collaboration on and across sites creating a culture of trust to foster innovation
- Interface with government agencies ensuring Nutrien’s good standing and compliance to applicable regulations
What you will bring:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical/Industrial Systems/Electrical Engineering/Mine Engineering/Geology or related function, with a Professional Engineer designation registered in New Brunswick, or eligible to obtain the designation
- 5+ years of experience in an operations or maintenance management position preferred
- 10 + years’ experience within a large mining operation site (open pit, surface or underground) preferred
- Hold, or eligible to pursue, a PMP designation
- Experience working underground, considered an asset, with knowledge of Potash mining preferred
- Safety commitment and leadership
- Excellent coaching and mentoring skills
- Experience leading and building a high-performance, diverse, multidisciplinary team
- Results driven person with a focus on building collaboration and trust
- Knowledge of finance/accounting principles (IFRS) relating to budgeting and capital expenditures
- Experience in procurement activities including bid creation and selection, negotiation of contracts, conflict resolution, and managing service providers
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Creative and innovative problem-solving skills
