The Journeyperson Mechanic reports to the Underground Mechanical Supervisor at our New Brunswick Division. 

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain and overhaul all equipment relative to our mining and mill processes including mining machines, mobile equipment, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, crushing and screening equipment, pumping and piping systems, fans, HVAC equipment, and hoisting/shaft equipment.
  • Perform inspections, testing, servicing, repairs, and installation of fire protection equipment including pumps, hydrants, sprinklers, firewater supply lines, fire suppression systems, and fire extinguishers per applicable fire codes, mining regulations and Nutrien guidance documents and procedures.
  • Perform rigging tasks necessary for proper installation of various components.
  • Perform welding and cutting work as requested Interpret blueprints, sketches, and layouts accordingly.
  • Be available for shift work when required based on operational needs.
  • Be required to operate mobile equipment.
  • Be required to participate actively in all company Safety and Training Programs.
  • Be available if/when position is deemed to be part of the on-call assignment as per section 10 in the Hourly Employee Handbook.
  • Be able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Be required to take additional training to enhance scope of work.
  • Perform other duties as requested by supervision.

What You'll Bring:

  • A valid New Brunswick or Interprovincial Certificate of Journeyperson Status (Red Seal) as Industrial, Heavy Duty, or Automotive Mechanic.
  • F4 Qualified Welding certificate considered an asset.
  • Experience working in an industrial setting maintaining mechanical equipment, mobile equipment, and hydraulic systems is preferred.
  • Experience with cutting and welding is preferred.
  • Good motor coordination skills, able to work at heights, and physically able to do heavy work.
  • Valid driver’s license.
