Reporting to the Chief Engineer (Engineering Manager), this role is responsible for performing underground and surface surveying to support mining activities, special projects, and operational needs. The role involves advancing survey control, preparing layouts, maintaining plans and drawings, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

 

This is a temporary role for a 1-year minimum term with the possibility of renewal or extension. 

 

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct underground and surface surveys for mine layouts, infrastructure, belt lines, subsidence monitoring, product volume estimates, and special projects.
  • Advance and maintain permanent survey control throughout the mine.
  • Install and set lasers for direction and grade; provide line, level, and check surveys to support development and mining.
  • Generate and maintain maps, CAD drawings, mine plans, construction packages, and as-built documentation.
  • Perform ventilation surveys and monitor mine gases using ventilation equipment.
  • Assist the engineering department with installation of specialized instrumentation and ongoing data collection.
  • Maintain and repair survey and laser equipment.
  • Manage and/or coordinate special projects as assigned.
  • Actively participate in site safety programs including SCORE observations, life critical assessments and planned inspections.
  • Be a safety leader in working with skilled trades and technical groups.

What You'll Bring:

  • Diploma in Mining, Geomatics, or Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized institution, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of surveying experience, preferably in an underground environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, and mine design/planning software.
  • Knowledge and application of general survey calculations.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong commitment to safety with working knowledge of OH&S, Mine, and Environmental regulations.
  • Creative and innovative-problem solving skills.
  • Safety commitment and leadership.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
