As a safety leader, this position requires regular access to workers at their work sites in order to understand the environment and challenges presented in the workplace, and to influence culture, as needed.

 

The Safety Coordinator reports to the Safety Manager.

 

What you will do:

 

  •  Interact with crews and front-line leaders by spending a minimum of 20% of time in-field 
  • Promote and participation in Nutrien safety programs with a focused effort to identify and mitigate risk
  • Monitor corrective action completions utilizing the ETQ data base system
  • Assist in incident investigations including TapRoot investigations as required
  • Work closely with Training Department in the development and presentation of safety training materials
  • Attend meetings and prepare minutes/reports for SCORE (exposure-based safety) and Joint Health & Safety committees
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, and facilitating of effective Mine Rescue training
  • Responsible for the organizing of in house Mine Rescue events and preparation
  • Promote a good working relationship with Government Departments
  • Maintain & distribute reporting on safety programs/statistics as required
  • Distribute Safety Department communications where applicable
  • Show commitment, promote, and participate fully in the Nutrien Safety System and Nutrien Corp.'s SHE performance
  • Maintain and continually build upon knowledge base for safety in the mining industry
  • Maintain knowledge of and comply with company policies and rules, as well as laws and regulations that apply to this position

 

 

What you will bring:

 

  • Grade 12 diploma required, additional education or training in a relevant field may also be considered
  • Strong commitment to safety
  • Diploma in a recognized Occupational Health & Safety program considered an asset
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and other systems, as required
  • CRST or CRSP designation considered an asset
  • Mine rescue experience and mine rescue training certification are preferred
  • Experience in underground potash operations or industrial plant environment is an asset
  • Experience in safety and safety systems
