An exciting Co-Op opportunity awaits a motivated student in our Continuous Improvement (CI) Team at our Vanscoy Potash Mine beginning May 2026 for a 16-month term. This is a temporary, full-time, hourly-paid position open to current students who will be returning to their studies once this work term is complete. This position is not available for remote work.
As part of the CI group, you will play a key role in identifying inefficiencies, supporting data-driven decisions, and helping implement projects that enhance safety, productivity, and cost-effectiveness. This role is ideal for a student looking to gain hands-on experience in mining operations, process optimization, and lean methodologies in a dynamic underground environment.
What you will do:
- Collaborate with CI specialists, engineers, and operations teams to identify and analyze improvement opportunities.
- Lead and assist data collection, time studies, and process mapping underground.
- Support root cause analyses (RCAs) and other problem-solving initiatives.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and visual management tools to track performance metrics (KPIs).
- Help implement and monitor trials of new technologies, procedures, or workflow changes.
- Reports to the Continuous Improvement Lead
What you will bring:
- Completed at least 2 years of an undergraduate program or diploma in engineering, technology, or applied science at an accredited post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies after the work term
- Strong written and communication skills, able to manage and coordinate discussion across diverse stakeholders
- Experience working in mining / heavy industrial environment is preferred
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); experience with data manipulation tools is an asset.
- Willingness to work primarily underground with some surface-based responsibilities
- Willingness to comply with all site safety protocols and PPE requirements
