Process Control Engineer

This position will report to the Chief Metallurgical Engineer.

This position is located in Vanscoy, Saskatchewan.

Pay Band: K,L,or M.  The title and salary offered will be based on expirence and education.

What you will do: 

• Maintain and configure the Surface/Mill Foxboro DCS and associated equipment

• Maintain and configure the Surface/Mill Rockwell PLCs and associated equipment

• Integrate instrumentation, smart starters, VFDs, etc. with the DCS & PLC systems

• Maintain the automation work backlog and prioritize according to Operations needs

• Assist Electrical and Instrumentation personnel with maintenance and commissioning

• Support day-to-day operations and assist with troubleshooting issues

• Maintain the surface Historian

• Work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to provide technical expertise for various projects on surface as it pertains to electrical, instrumentation, and programming requirements including, but not limited to design, drafting/drawing updates, cost analysis, automation control strategies

• Collaborate with internal subject matter experts in implementing & maintaining network infrastructure upgrades to industry IT/OT standards

• Collaborate with Process Engineering to optimize process performance and automation

• Coordinate and work with service provider personnel, vendors, and contractors and ensure they are compliant with all Site and Industry standards

What you will bring: 

• Education: Electrical or Computer Engineering Degree and eligibility to register with APEGS Saskatchewan OR

                    Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering Technologist diploma and eligibility for registration with SASTT

• Ability to perform all tasks keeping safety paramount

• Ability to identify and mitigate workplace hazards

• Previous experience in Automation, System Integration, or maintenance of control systems with direct relatable experience with PLC’s and DCS equipment

• Ability to communicate effectively with various departments and individuals (internal and external)

• Proven history of demonstrating "Respect in the Workplace" values

• Effective troubleshooting skills - analytical, critical thinking, and problem solving

• Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation technical schematics

• Engineering, maintenance, project, or operations experience at an operating facility or heavy industrial site 

• Experience with PLCs, DCSs, and/or VFDs or Smart starters
