Reporting to the Manager, Site Accounting, the Sr Accountant will be part of a team that is responsible for providing financial accounting expertise and support to our Potash Operations. This role will also be supporting initiatives to drive process improvements and consistency across all Potash plant accounting areas.

 

This position is located in Vanscoy, Saskatchewan and the schedule is Mon-Thurs 4x10s.

 

What You'll Do:

  • Support day to day operations of the Accounting Department:
    • Capital Project and Asset Accounting.
    • Preparation of journal entries.
    • Maintain and review subsidiary ledgers, with emphasis on Construction in Progress and Fixed Assets.
    • Perform regular review and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
    • Completion of month end procedures.
    • Analyzing financials and communicating the results with various stakeholders.
    • Duties related to the payment of Potash Royalties including calculating, reporting and statement preparation.
    • Responsible for performing internal controls and responding to requests from internal and external auditors.
  • Acting as a liaison with other departments to assist with financial analysis and communications on accounting policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Policy alignment initiatives and implementation.
  • Support and assist with continuous improvement initiatives and projects, inclusive of automation and process improvement.

What You'll Bring:

  • An undergraduate degree and a recognized professional accounting designation.
  • 6+ years of related experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of IFRS and GAAP.
  • Experience with SAP or Oracle is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data base tools such as Power Query.
  • Ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to deadlines and attention to detail.
