What You Will Do:

 

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining small research trials across various crops and field conditions.
  • Actively contribute to efficient crop research trials by assisting in sample collection, processing, and data entry tasks.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain a variety of agricultural research equipment (planters, sprayers, harvesters, tractors, and trailers).
  • As needed, perform preventative maintenance on equipment and assist with minor repairs.
  • Support seasonal field activities including but not limited to:  note taking, planting, irrigating, weeding, pest monitoring, rogueing, and harvesting.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate data collection records regarding field activities and observations.
  • Serve as a key contact for seasonal staff in coordinating fieldwork, ensuring tasks are completed in an efficient and accurate manner.
  • Actively follow safety procedures, wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to adjust work schedule and travel regionally to meet seasonal peak work demands.

 

 

What You Will Bring:

  • High School diploma or equivalent certificate is required.
  • Valid driver’s license with the ability to obtain a G endorsement.
  • Ability to obtain a Saskatchewan industrial pesticide certificate.
  • An engaged safety-first mindset.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor weather conditions for the majority of work shift.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Able to stoop, bend, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Attention to detail when completing data tracking activities.
  • Interpersonal effectiveness to collaborate with colleagues and leaders.
  • Organized approached, maintaining orderly work areas.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Business, or Commerce is preferred.
  • Previous work experience in a greenhouse, agricultural crop research, or farming operations is a benefit but not required.
