Reporting to the Manager, Site Accounting, the Accountant will be part of the team that is responsible for providing financial and operations accounting expertise to support plant accounting functions.

 

What you will do:

 

As part of this team you will be responsible for the following related to the Feed plants:

 

  • Act as part of a team that is responsible for providing financial and operations accounting expertise to support plant accounting functions
  • Become subject matter expert for processes included in your role which may include complex agreements
  • Complete and improve month end close processes
  • Participate in automation and process improvement projects
  • Verify the proper accumulation of product flows through our production areas and verification of month end accumulations and reporting (OPM)
  • Perform raw material and finished product cost accounting
  • Understand, identify and implement required internal controls, including certification reporting, audit responses and SOX controls
  • Participation in the physical asset verification process
  • Ensure Balance Sheet Accounts are effectively analyzed and managed
  • Complete Capital Project and Fixed Asset Accounting
  • Complete MRM projects accounting (deferred averaging)
  • Analyze and prepare journals related to pre-strip accounting
  • Prepare moderate and high risk account reconciliations
  • Prepare moderate and high risk journal entries
  • Other related duties including assisting with the White Springs accounting activities

What you will bring:

  • An undergraduate degree and a recognized professional accounting designation or working towards completion
  • 3+ years of experience
  • Experience in a plant environment is required
  • Strong working knowledge of:
      • Accounting/financial concepts and principles
      • GAAP/IFRS applications in a business environment
      • Management accounting principles
  • Experience with large ERP systems, preferably Oracle
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and data base tools such as Power Query
  • Strong communications and collaboration skills along with interpersonal awareness
  • A desire to grow and develop
