What You'll Do:
- Assure safe, proper, and legal disposal and/or recycling of all solid wastes. This includes waste determinations to classify waste as hazardous or non-hazardous and effective communication of regulatory requirements to operating areas. This requires a thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations governing waste disposal.
- Direct maintenance of records and production of internal and external reports of all solid waste generated on-site and provide reports used for quarterly sustainability goals.
- Assure compliance with State and Federal storage tank regulations including FDEP regulated storages, SPCC and CIP plans. This requires a thorough knowledge of the rules and regulations governing oil and hazardous material storage.
- Assure proper permitting and control of air emissions. This includes maintaining current knowledge of regulations and regulatory trends.
- Oversee the ongoing requirements for the Radiation License including shutter testing, inventory confirmation and leak testing. In general – acting as the site’s Radiation Safety Officer (RSO).
- Direct maintenance of records, oversee compliance testing, and oversee submission of compliance testing reports to the FDEP. This includes contact with FDEP personnel on an as-needed basis to discuss resolution of any regulatory issues arising from tests.
- Coordinate with outside consultants on issues involving solid waste and air. Responsible for maintaining contracts to provide outside laboratory support and professional consulting as required.
- Manage general reporting requirements for all air and waste permits – this includes coordinating the data collection, preparation, review, and submittal of required reports, including HF MACT, annual, and quarterly emissions reports.
- Maintain, and provide training for the SPILLS reporting system, including development of upgrades as required.
- Support training of all Nutrien and contract personnel in current environmental rules, policies and procedures.
- Provide regulatory and permitting assistance to capital and routine projects as needed.
- Manage Risk Management Plan. This includes calculation of release scenarios and communication with both Safety and PSM Coordinator.
- Support Environmental Lab as needed including assistance with capital purchases.
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil, or a closely related Engineering field, Required
- Valid Driver’s License (operating company vehicles), Required
- Strong knowledge of environmental laws and regulations related to waste management, storage tanks, and air emissions, with the ability to identify broader environmental compliance issues.
- Experience with radiation device management or awareness, Preferred
- Proven ability to evaluate and solve complex, cross-disciplinary problems.
