What you will do:

 

  • Track and report key process indicators and utilize Statistical Process Controls to improve process efficiency and product quality.
  • Work with operators and shift foreman to continuously optimize utilization factors of key chemicals.
  • Champion water and energy conservation projects
  • Perform as acting Superintendent while the Superintendent s off.
  • Assist with preparation of plant budget and propose, justify, and implement capital projects and expenditures.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and assure compliance with all applicable safety codes and regulations.
  • Establish regular presence in plant to become known to operating personnel and familiar with equipment operation and problems.
  • Provide engineering consulting services and recommendations to operations management and other departments within the complex; and act as technical liaison for engineering projects involving various engineering departments.
  • Coordinate tracking, implementation, and closure of the area Management of Change Procedure.
  • Provide technical/engineering support to other departments regarding process and/or equipment changes.
  • Prepare appropriate reports, statistics, and recommendations on production engineering activities.
  • Regularly inspect plants to detect and eliminate safety, environmental, fire, security, and health hazards.
  • Assist in the formulation of emergency response and recovery plans for assigned areas.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, statutes, and codes; and assist to secure permits.
  • Oversee federal, state, local and insurance inspections, and compliance.
  • Initiate and coordinate requests for air quality, water quality, water discharge, and waste disposal permit pertaining to the facility and equipment contained within it to meet federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Coordinate all monitoring required to meet federal, state, and local regulations and correct environmental deficiencies.
  • Assist in contingency and emergency response planning and training of personnel for control, containment, cleanup, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous spills.
  • Perform Weekly Hazardous Waste Storage Inspections and document.

 

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Chemical Engineering.
  • 6–8 years of experience in an engineering role.
    • Previous experience as a Process Engineer or Production Engineer.
    • Chemical plant experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with utility systems such as power, steam systems, and water treatment.
  • Proficiency with relevant computer applications, including Microsoft Office.
