What you will do:

  • Be capable of identifying rail tank cars by tank numbers and design to ensure each reaches its proper destination for cleaning, inspection, repair, or shipment.
  • Know how to operate the Suwannee River Chemical and Swift Chemical Complexes truck and rail scales.
  • Know how to troubleshoot deficiencies with the scales and provide corrective action.
  • Maintain and develop technical, process, procedural and other job knowledge to efficiently weigh truck and rail car shipments. 
  • Have knowledge and the ability to use the corporate shipping system is required to bill trucks and rail cars, provide updates of rail cars records and track shipments and movement of rail cars.
  • Have knowledge and the ability to use the plant rail car tracking system.
  • Be responsible for performing and documenting inspections of all rail cars and identifying deficiencies.
  • Coordinate the correction of rail car deficiencies with local repair crews or home shops and the disposition of the rail cars.
  • Process the dumping and receiving of sulfur, ammonia and other inbound materials in the required materials and financial systems.
  • Be familiar with and capable of operating the rail switches and related equipment to safely operate the rail switch yard.
  • Assist Traffic department with month end closing.
  • Have knowledge and the ability to order supplies and services internally and externally to PotashCorp which includes submitting work orders and purchase requisitions.
  • Participate in FRA inspections, BOE audits and other inspections/audits.
  • Maintain DOT, FRA and AAR regulatory records.
  • Coordinate the loading or unloading of trucks and rail cars with other departments as needed.
  • Train others as needed to operate the truck and rail car scales to ensure and achieve desired results.
  • Be able to walk for extended periods of time on uneven surfaces and climbing ladders on rail cars.
  • Be responsible for area housekeeping.
  • Provide relief for other inspectors/supervisors during absences.
  • Perform visual track checks of outbound railyard.
  • Ride on moving equipment while exposed to the elements.
  • Operate equipment handling corrosive, flammable, combustible and reactive chemicals, high pressure air, steam, and water.
  • This position will frequently require climbing stairs and ladders multiple times daily to access railcars, process equipment, and various structures, and is physically demanding.
  • Have continuous attention to detail in order to accurately complete company documents for inspections due and completed, Customer Complaints, repairs needed, and repairs performed.

What you will bring:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Required
  • One year of relevant railcar experience Inspection/Repair, Required
