Fairbury Nutrien Ag Solutions is adding an Instrumentation & Electrical Technician to the team to support the maintenance group and continued health of the facility by troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment leading to increased uptime and reliability.

 

What you will do:
 

  • Calibrate, install, and conduct preventive maintenance, repair or replace a variety of instruments including but not limited to various pressure, temperature and level devices, and variable frequency drives, electric motors, motor control centers and mechanical relay services
  • Assist with the installation and troubleshooting of PLC controlled automated systems including actuated valves, pumps, flow meters, scales and associated interlocks and safety systems
  • Manage daily maintenance work-flow activities utilizing a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS, specifically SAP), and other instrument software systems
  • Electrical work on installation of new services, trouble shooting, grounding and repairs
  • Help develop and implement maintenance process improvements and standard work procedures and create additional PM’s to improve plant reliability
  • Follow written procedures and complete detailed checklists
  • Perform repair, troubleshooting or general plant maintenance work of various types of pumping systems, compressors, generators, reactors, heat exchangers, filters and agitators in operation
  • Play a critical role not only in ensuring your own safety but the safety of others and that adhere to all regulatory guidelines (OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, etc.)
  • Inspects, repair, installs, modifies and maintains electrical/electronic systems, circuits and equipment up to 480 volts
  • Work closely with contractors, vendors, and internal departments to develop PM standards on equipment
  • Perform building and grounds maintenance including lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and fabrication.
  • Examine parts for defects, such as breakage or excessive wear; replace defective parts and reassembles equipment

What you will bring:
 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; experience may be considered in lieu of education
  • 3+ years’ experience required, preferably maintenance/electrical experience in a chemical, PSM, or liquid fertilizer plant
  • Instrumentation / Electrical degree or certification is preferred
  • Experience interpreting electrical drawings, one lines, and Process Instrument Diagrams (P&ID's), and loop diagrams
  • Working knowledge of temperatures, pressure, flows, electronic transmitters
  • Ability to inspect, repair, install, modify, and maintain electrical/electronic systems, circuits and equipment
  • Working knowledge/troubleshooting pneumatic/electronic instruments, devices and analyzers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills along with ability to work independently and as a team
